Official languages: applying for a grant

We encourage the community to submit applications in their official language of choice. CIHR has systems in place to ensure that grant applications can be reviewed in both English and French. All applicants are entitled to receive services in the official language of their choice.

Conditions of funding

Mandatory for grants that have knowledge mobilization products as part of the research outputs and are pan-Canadian in scope (e.g., networks, platforms): All information intended for public consumption, for the purposes of informing and engaging stakeholders (e.g., website content, information pamphlets, guidelines, promotional and event-related material), must be provided in both official languages (English and French) and should be developed using plain language practices.

Allowable costs

Costs related to the translation and preparation of information/material intended for public consumption for the purposes of informing and engaging stakeholders (e.g., website content, information pamphlets, guidelines, promotional and event-related material) are an eligible use of tri-agency funds.
