Update on the Pathways Annual Gathering 2019

Aanii, Greetings, Hello All,

The Pathways Annual Gatherings (PAGs) have contributed to defining new ways to improve the health of Indigenous Peoples through networking, teambuilding and sharing of cross learnings in the field of Implementation Science.

To continue this important work and support the evolution of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s (CIHR) investments in Indigenous health research, we have considered several options to bring together community members, researchers, knowledge holders and community organizations. Rather than hosting a PAG gathering this year, the Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health (IIPH) and CIHR have decided to reconvene in 2020.

The model of this event, based on the successes of the PAG gatherings, will be communicated in the coming months on the Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research (NEIHRs) Webpage. We believe that the communities, organizations and researchers funded through Pathways will benefit greatly from such a gathering and will form many new relationships and reconnect with current partners. There may be other opportunities to engage with the community, which will be identified on the Indigenous Health Research webpage.

We would like to thank the teams, partners and co-hosts involved in the PAGs over the past years, and recognize their contributions and achievements towards the objectives of the PAGs. Their commitment to building healthy communities will certainly benefit the organization of the gatherings for the coming years.

Miigwetch/thank you

CIHR and the Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Heath
