Get to know Knowledge Translation!
(2013-05-23) I would like to take this opportunity to connect with the knowledge translation (KT) community and to provide you with an update on developments at CIHR that may be of interest to you.
The Research and KT Portfolio supports CIHR in achieving its health research and KT objectives, primarily through the design, development and administration of CIHR's funding programs and corporate science policies. Within the Research and KT Portfolio, the Science, Knowledge Translation and Ethics (SKTE) Branch is the strategic lead for CIHR's KT and commercialization programs, policies and activities. At this time, I would like to introduce to you the staff in this branch:
Peggy Borbey – Acting Director, SKTE
Alison Bourgon – Manager, KT Strategy
Yumna Choudhry – Senior Specialist, KT Strategy
Krissy Davidge – Senior Advisor, KT Strategy
Kiera Keown – Senior Advisor, KT Strategy
Jacqueline Tetroe – Senior Advisor, KT Strategy
The SKTE branch welcomes any questions you may have, as well as the opportunity to continue learning about the exciting KT initiatives being undertaken by CIHR-supported trainees, researchers and knowledge users. Contact information is provided at the end of this email, and I encourage you to connect with the above individuals regarding any questions or requests you may have.
I would also like to raise awareness of the KT resources that are available on CIHR's website, including learning resources (e.g., modules, casebooks), a summary of KT and commercialization programs, funding application tips (e.g., guidelines for writing letters of support and tips for preparing integrated KT applications), and information on KT strategies and policies.
Building upon the strengths of Canada's KT community, CIHR has achieved significant success in developing capacity in KT and commercialization, supporting the practice and science of KT, as well as raising awareness across the research landscape of the importance of this area. In turn, CIHR is moving towards a point where KT will be integrated across the organization. This is already being seen, as CIHR Institutes and Major Initiatives are considering KT practices and activities when designing new strategic funding opportunities.
On behalf of CIHR's Research and KT Portfolio, we look forward to open and ongoing communication, and – as previously mentioned – the opportunity to hear about the impact of the innovative KT activities you are currently conducting.
Sincerely,
Jane
Dr. Jane Aubin
