Message from the President of CIHR: Research Community Feedback on the Open and Peer Review Reforms
It has been five months since CIHR released the Design Discussion Document describing the proposed reform to CIHR's Open Suite of Programs and peer review process. From February 8, 2012 to May 1, 2012, feedback was collected through face-to-face discussions, a web-based discussion forum, an online feedback form and submission of letters and emails. During the consultation period, the research community and our stakeholders provided CIHR with many thoughtful, frank and candid comments, as well as constructive suggestions. All individual comments and questions received were carefully catalogued and analyzed.
As part of our commitment to maintain open communications with the research community, we are pleased to share with you the What CIHR Heard: Analysis of Feedback on the Design Discussion Document which can be found on the CIHR website. This document presents a summary of the feedback received from the research community and lays out the next steps CIHR will take to finalize the design and transition plan.
CIHR is very grateful for the interest shown towards the proposed Reforms and would like to thank you for taking the time to respond and voice your opinions. We will continue working diligently over the coming months to complete our analysis and continue to refine and improve the design.
