CIHR-funded researcher awarded

Dr. Weihong SongDr. Weihong Song, CIHR-funded researcher and Canada Research Chair in Alzheimer's Disease, has been awarded the "National Friendship Award" by the Chinese Government. The award is the nation's highest honor given to a foreigner for their contribution in promoting their country's partnership and collaboration with China. "I am extremely honored and humbled by the award," said Dr. Song. "I share this award with all the people, particularly those from CIHR and UBC, who helped contribute to the promotion of partnerships with China in the fields of science and technology and education." The award was presented by the Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Dejiang, at an award ceremony, followed by a meeting with Premier Wen Jiabao, and a state banquet in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, on the 29th and 30th of September. Congratulations Dr. Song!
