3. CIHR Roadmap Signature Initiatives
CIHR is addressing health and health system research priorities through its 8 signature initiatives. Two of these initiatives are highlighted below.
3.1 Personalized Medicine
The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research, Institute of Genetics, and Institute of Health Services and Policy Research, in partnership with several CIHR institutes, and in close consultation with provincial and federal funders, are leading a new strategic initiative in Personalized Medicine. This initiative aims to capitalize on Canadian health researchers' strengths in identifying disease-related genes and biomarkers and in translational research in order to integrate evidenced-based medicine and precision diagnostics into clinical practice.
3.2 Community-Based Primary Healthcare
The CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR) and its partners are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of a major ten year initiative to fund research that supports the delivery of high-quality Community-Based Primary Healthcare (CBPHC) across Canada. CBPHC includes health promotion and disease prevention, the diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic and episodic illness, rehabilitation support, end-of-life care, and care coordination among others. The CBPHC Initiative will consist of two major tools: CBPHC Team Grants and CBPHC Scientist Awards. Please consult the IHSPR website to view the funding opportunities.
4. Meetings Supported by ICR
