In March 2011, the first annual DSEN Knowledge Translation Workshop brought together a group of 40 researchers, decision-makers, and partners who shared research results and inputs on future funding opportunities, as well as on the use of the CIHR Catalyst Grant tool.

DSEN extended an invitation to up to two representatives from each of the 14 teams funded under the 2009 Catalyst Grant competition: "Post Market Drug Safety and Effectiveness" to participate in a DSEN day-long knowledge translation workshop. Representatives from decision-makers bodies and from CIHR partner Institutes were also invited. The workshop was an opportunity for funded researchers to provide an update on their projects and for DSEN and decision-makers to gain the researchers' perspectives on DSEN's targeted research efforts.
