Once again it is my pleasure, as president of the jury, to present the 2010 Prix Galien Research and the Prix Galien Innovative Product awards. Prix Galien Canada recognizes the quality of health research in Canada by paying special attention not only to basic research, but also and maybe more so, by emphasizing the importance of innovation that results in the discovery of drugs as well as the development of treatment methods and strategies that improve the health and well-being of the people.

Our partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research allows us to celebrate the outstanding quality of our health researchers in Canada. It also creates a synergy that helps in the dissemination of information that contributes to improve Canadians' health.

We are blessed to work in a domain that contributes to our well-being, by its research and its product development.

I would like to thank the members of the Jury. Their expertise, dedication and hard work are key to the success of Prix Galien Canada. Finally, I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the award winners. Your excellent work is making a difference in people's lives today, and will inspire the next generation of health researchers to ask questions and solve problems that are important to Canadians.
