(2010-01-29) CIHR received a request for an extension to the March 1, 2010 application deadline for the Open Operating Grant program from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the University of British Columbia (UBC) on the basis of the significant disruption on campus that will be caused by the February 2010 Olympics. Given the amount of time that still remains before the deadline and the fact that researchers have the opportunity to submit their applications before deadline, CIHR will not grant an extension to applicants.

On the other hand, since campus operations will be significantly affected, CIHR will grant an extension to the Institutions for submitting final signatures on the operating grant applications. SFU and UBC institutions will have until Monday, March 8, 2010 to submit their approvals.
