Canadian Knowledge Synthesis Network – Funding Decisions Notification (June 2009 Competition: 200906CSN)

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the results of Canadian Knowledge Synthesis Network competition.

Funding Opportunity Summary

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Knowledge Synthesis and Exchange Branch, solicited an application to establish a formal network of Canadian knowledge synthesis experts, which includes the development of a web portal as well as an initial face-to-face meeting of the network members.

The objectives of the funding opportunity "Canadian Knowledge Synthesis Network" were to:

  • Develop a communication portal;
  • Provide an opportunity to bring together the diversity of Canadians engaged in knowledge synthesis activities to promote education, mentoring, research, dissemination and debate;
  • Provide a Canadian perspective on developing issues and threads in knowledge synthesis; and
  • Develop and maintain partnerships between Canadians interested in knowledge synthesis.

This grant will address the CIHR Roadmap Strategic Direction #3, ''Accelerate the Capture of Health and Economic Benefits of Health Research'', by a) facilitating and strengthening partnerships between researchers and knowledge users and between CIHR and a variety of organization to achieve impact and b) enhancing the application of research and its evaluation.
