Catalyst Grant: Pandemic Preparedness (2008-2009) – Funding Decisions Notification (April 2009 Competition: 200904PAP)
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the results of the Catalyst Grant: Pandemic Preparedness (2008-2009) competition.
Funding Opportunity Summary
The Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative launched funding opportunities to support three phases of pandemic preparedness: pre-pandemic research, outbreak research and knowledge translation of research findings. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to provide seed money for researchers in areas where there are still gaps in knowledge and knowledge translation related to pandemic preparedness. These funds will stimulate targeted research and allow researchers to be more competitive in existing or future funding opportunities.
Within the framework of the overall objectives of the CIHR Catalyst Grant Program, the specific objectives of the "Catalyst Grant: Pandemic Preparedness (2008-2009)" funding opportunity are:
- To contribute to Canadian pandemic preparedness by supporting catalyst grants in the areas of influenza and the current pandemic threat;
- To provide seed money to support health research activities which represent a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities; and
- To stimulate research in strategic priority areas were there is low capacity and significant knowledge gaps.
Funding Competition Summary
A total of eighteen (18) applications were received of which ten (10) were approved for funding through this competition.
