Funding Opportunity Summary

The objectives of the "Catalyst Grant: Invention and High-Risk, High-Benefit Research (2008-2009)" were to:

  • encourage Canadian investigators to develop novel tools and techniques, or novel applications of existing tools and techniques;
  • support research projects that demonstrate unusual potential for 'breakthrough' or transformative advances, advances that would generally be considered too uncertain of success in a regular operating grant competition; and
  • facilitate the rapid transfer of research findings through appropriate communication strategies
