The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the results of the Other: Science to Business (2008-2009) competition.
Funding Opportunity Summary
The objectives of the funding opportunity "Other: Science to Business (2008-2009)" were:
- To encourage and enable recent health-related PhDs to pursue a health or biotechnology stream MBA;
- To strengthen translation of discoveries to the marketplace by training scientists to recognize and manage health research innovations;
- To develop a cadre of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists knowledgeable in health research and business management and foster an entrepreneurial culture within the research community.
- To facilitate and/or accelerate the identification and technology transfer/commercialization of innovations residing in academia from CIHR-funded grants; and
- To nurture the entrepreneurial culture in health research at academic institutions and teaching hospitals in Canada. objectives as per the funding opportunity description.
