The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Infection and Immunity – HIV/AIDS Research Initiative in partnership with the CIHR Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health is pleased to announce the results of the funding opportunity Other: HIV/AIDS Population Health and Health Services competition.

Funding Opportunity Summary

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity were to:

• Develop a network of collaborative Centres for Population Health and Health Services Research Development in HIV/AIDS in order to foster the national coordination of research efforts;
• Position Centres to develop strategic research programs, aligned with current and emerging priorities, and to succeed in securing research funding through other opportunities;
• Foster meaningful and collaborative relationships between researchers and with research users such as such as community-based organizations, people living with HIV/AIDS, policy makers, private sector (e.g., workplace), public and voluntary sector program administrators and/or clinical and public health practitioners;
• Build capacity in HIV/AIDS research by actively engaging trainees, existing HIV/AIDS investigators and researchers from complementary disciplines in the programs of the Centres;
• Foster and support the translation of knowledge in various target populations in order to increase the impact of research on policy and practice with relevant stakeholders; and
• Address Aboriginal population-specific HIV/AIDS research and knowledge translation needs.

Two applications were received and none were approved for funding.
