The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the results of the Team Grant: Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment.
Funding Opportunity Summary
The objectives of the “Team Grant: Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment” were to:
- Increase the quality of and capacity for research, ranging from basic and clinical science to health systems and social, cultural and environmental sciences, in the areas of alcohol, psychotropic pharmaceutical and illicit drug use, abuse and addiction in Canada;
- Fund high-quality research aimed at understanding the determinants, correlates and consequences of and at facilitating the implementation of evidence-based interventions for alcohol, psychotropic pharmaceutical and illicit drug use, abuse and addiction.
- Advance the use and meaningful combination of a range of research methodologies as appropriate to the topics of investigation, including genetic, biological and behavioral methods and interventions, development of pharmaco-therapeutics and vaccines, systems and program evaluation, community-based or action research, database and population level analyses, public health measures, policy/intervention studies, economic cost analyses etc.; and
- Foster translation of research knowledge to applications in prevention, treatment, policy making and other interventions for alcohol, psychotropic pharmaceuticals and illicit drug use, abuse and addiction
