The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the results of the Emerging Team Grant: Co-morbidity of brain disorders and other health problems (LOI) competition.

Funding Opportunity Summary

The objectives of the Emerging Team Grant: Co-morbidity of brain disorders and other health problems are:

• To lay the groundwork for better treatment by increasing our understanding of co-morbidity associated with mental illness, addiction, brain and nerve disorders, and sensory disorders
• To increase exchange of knowledge (neurological, psychological, social, etc.) and collaboration among different disciplines as a first step to better treatment of co-morbid disorders
• To develop strategies to overcome barriers to effective treatment of individuals affected by co-morbid conditions associated with mental illness, addiction, brain and nerve disorders, and sensory disorders (development and/or implementation of best practice guidelines, influencing the development of healthy public policy, establishing new ways of working together among health care professionals, development of new medical treatments, etc.)
• To integrate communities (e.g. mental health and addiction) at the level of research and health services

Funding Competition Summary

A total of 35 LOIs were received of which 25 were approved and invited to submit full-applications.
