Chair: GlaxoSmithKline Partnered (2007-2008)
GlaxoSmithKline Inc. (GSK) and the CIHR/Rx&D Collaborative Research Program are pleased to announce the results of the "Chair: GlaxoSmithKline Partnered (2007-2008)" competition.
The specific objectives of this collaboration are:
- to provide attractive, long-term personnel awards;
- to promote recruitment and retainment of highly-qualified personnel;
- to establish Chairs in disciplines where specific universities are particularly strong, and where GSK and CIHR have clear scientific interest; e.g., therapeutic areas respiratory medicine, virology, oncology; related fields that are important to specific elements of development and commercialization, such as pharmaceutics, clinical pharmacology, functional genomics, and structural biology; and emerging research areas that include social sciences, such as health outcomes.
One (1) application was submitted in March 2008. The application was reviewed by the University-Industry peer review committee resulting in its approval for funding.
