Team Grant: Obesity and Related Diseases

CIHR's Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes (INMD) is pleased to announce the results of the "Team Grant: Obesity and Related Diseases" funding opportunity.

The purpose of this initiative is:

  • to support multidisciplinary team-based research relevant to the measures, prevention, and/or treatment of obesity and healthy body weight.

The objectives of this initiative are:

  • To increase understanding of the measures, prevention and treatment of obesity;
  • To support excellent multidisciplinary team-based research established under the Obesity and Chronic Disease NET programs;
  • To foster partnerships in support of excellent health research relevant to the mandate of INMD and one or more of the partners;
  • To accelerate the flow of knowledge in order to influence public policies and programs, clinical practices, social norms and individual behaviors that are likely to reduce the epidemic of obesity and it's related health conditions.

A total of 15 applications were submitted to the competition and 6 received funding.
