Institute Community Support (ICS) Program

The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:
  • Aiding research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside CIHR's programs.
  • Supporting organizations and activities whose goals are consistent with the Institute's and CIHR's vision, mandate and strategic directions.

The ICS Program is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment.

Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction (INMHA) ICS Program

Under the framework of the ICS Program, INMHA funds activities in two areas:

The Brain Star Award is a long standing programme of INMHA which rewards excellence in research done in Canada by students and trainees in all fields and disciplines covered by our Institute.

CIHR Outreach Initiative for NGO's is a program led by the INMHA which aims to develop communications-related partnerships with Canadian non-governmental, not-for-profit, and community-based organizations.

For those seeking workshop and symposium support, please refer to the Meeting, Planning and Dissemination Grants funding opportunity in the CIHR Funding Opportunities Database.
