GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) - CIHR Research Chair Award Competition
GlaxoSmithKline Inc. (GSK) and the CIHR/Rx&D Research Program are pleased to announce the results of the "GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) - CIHR Research Chair Award" competition.
The specific objectives of this collaboration are:
- to provide attractive, long-term personnel awards;
- to promote recruitment and retainment of highly-qualified personnel;
- to establish Chairs in disciplines where specific universities are particularly strong, and where GSK and CIHR have clear scientific interest; e.g., therapeutic areas respiratory medicine, virology, oncology; related fields that are important to specific elements of development and commercialization, such as pharmaceutics, clinical pharmacology, functional genomics, and structural biology; and emerging research areas that include social sciences, such as health outcomes.
Two (2) applications were submitted in Septembre, 2007. The applications were reviewed by the University-Industry peer review committee, resulting in their approval.
