June 19-20, 2006
University of Alberta
This event seeks to stimulate meaningful interactions between health science, physical science, engineering, and social science researchers in the area of nanomedicine. The theme of this year’s workshop is “integration” – across domains of research, disciplines, and approaches necessary for bridging nanoscience and nanotechnology with biomedical and clinical research. In keeping with this theme, we have expanded the program to include several current CIHR Regenerative Medicine and Nanomedicine Team Grant holders as session chairs. A full program with detailed session information will be available shortly.
The meeting is open to all, but participants must pay their own travel and accommodation costs. To help offset these costs, there is no registration fee and most meals will be provided for. A limited number of student and post-doctoral fellow travel bursaries of $500 will be offered, generally on a first come, first serve basis while seeking to encourage wide geographical and sub-discipline representation.
To register for the Nanomedicine workshop, please contact Asimina Xidous by phone at 613-941-0874 or by email at axidous@cihr-irsc.gc.ca.
This year, the Nanomedicine workshop is being held in conjunction with the third annual Nanoforum meeting in Edmonton (June 20-22, 2006). The Nanoforum provides a venue to present the latest achievements in nanoscience and nanotechnology in Canada, inform the community on recent enhancements in research facilities, and discuss legal and social issues related to working at the nano scale. There will be a joint Nanomedicine/Nanoforum session on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 20th, focusing on Nano Ethical, Environmental, Economic, Legal and Social Issues (NEEELS or NE³LS).
The general registration deadline for Nanoforum meeting is June 9, 2006. Please note that all Nanoforum registrants must pay a $150 CDN registration fee. Please see the website for more information.
