Ethics Policy Initiatives
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is actively engaged in a number of policy initiatives that lead to greater public engagement and improved understanding of ethical issues in the broad research community. These initiatives allow CIHR to develop policies that guide the ethical decision-making process related to complex and innovative areas of health and health research.
Currently, the Ethics Office is working on:
- Best Practices for Reasearch Involving Children and Adolescents
- Ethics of Health Research Involving First Nations, Inuit and Métis People
- Institutional Conflict of Interest
- Partnerships with the For-Profit Private Sector
- Privacy and Confidentiality in Health Research
- Research Integrity
